DESCRIPTION:Town Square University Parkway invites caregivers\, families\, and senior care professionals to join our free monthly educational class\, held every third Wednesday from 3:00 to 4:00 PM EST at our center in the Walmart plaza off Lockwood Ridge and University. This month’s class is led by Catherine McDermott\, PMHNP—Co-Owner of Gulfside Behavioral Care NP\, Inc.\, Co-Owner of Town Square University Parkway\, double board-certified\, and a Nurse Practitioner with 30 years of clinical experience in geriatric psychiatry\, dementia care\, cognitive impairments\, and Alzheimer’s disease. Catherine is a trusted leader in the Sarasota and Manatee County senior care community and brings unmatched expertise to families navigating the challenges of memory loss.\n \n\n  June’s educational session is designed to help caregivers make some of the most difficult and important decisions in the dementia journey. This class will explore when to introduce adult day programs or respite care\, how to recognize the signs that additional home care or memory care may be needed\, and how to overcome emotional resistance from spouses\, siblings\, or aging parents who may be hesitant to accept help. Catherine will also guide caregivers through strategies for maintaining dignity while increasing support\, building a realistic and compassionate long-term care plan\, and understanding how to leverage community resources\, dementia support services\, and our trusted TS Partners to reduce stress and improve quality of life.\n \n\n  This free educational hour is a game-changing resource for anyone caring for a loved one with Alzheimer’s disease\, dementia\, or cognitive decline. Caregivers will walk away with practical tools\, clarity\, and confidence to make informed decisions about their loved one’s safety\, well-being\, and future care needs.
