Seniors take a walk down memory lane in 1950s-themed adult day care center (PHOTOS)

Remembering the past may be a good way for senior citizens to remain engaged in the present.

For most of us, a number of life-defining experiences occur in our formative years between the ages of 15 and 25, and research shows the memories made during that time remain the strongest even well into the golden years.

There are various theories for the reason behind this “reminiscence bump” but the effect is well documented.

The newly opened Town Square at Princeton adult day care center is unique in that it is 1950s-themed, featuring a variety of nostalgic activity rooms called storefronts.

There’s a diner, or “Pop Shop,” and a movie theater room/performance space where the walls display giant posters of such Golden Age Silver Screen stars as John Wayne, Audrey Hepburn, Tony Curtis and Elvis.
