And the ‘50s theme is more than a nifty design. It’s based on the latest research in reminiscence therapy, to create a meaningful experience for today’s seniors. Studies have shown many therapeutic benefits to invoking the memories we hold from our young adult years, including reduced stress, improved sleep, and improved overall happiness.

Town Square is an active and vibrant community that welcomes all individuals in New Jersey’s elderly population and their caregivers. Each day, our members participate in activities focused on favorite pastimes, reminiscing with friends, and developing new interests. Our events include themed celebrations, live music, guest speakers, learning, creativity, exercise, and much more. Our goal each day is for the Town Square community to achieve feelings of accomplishment, community, and purpose.

TRUSTED SENIOR CARE
Town Square was founded by the professionals at Senior Helpers—a national leader in senior home care with a licensed and accredited agency in Ocean County, NJ—who were inspired to create a lively, enriching experience outside of the house with safe supervision, meaningful support, and professional assistance for the elderly and their caregivers.
Our team is led by specialists in various aspects of senior care, including skilled nursing, assisted living, program development, physical therapy, health services, memory care, and more. All of our staff is trained in a specialized dementia and Alzheimer’s program.
Town Square programming is available in full days or half days, with transportation to and from the facility. Guests may come for single-day participation or join us for a full week of engaging activities.
MEMORY CARE & REMINISCENCE THERAPY
Our adult day care services are specifically designed to evoke memories and promote reminiscing. This approach to the daytime senior care experience uses vintage prompts like themed collections of props, images, music, games and movies to stimulate long-term memories and promote mental wellbeing.
Loved ones who are now in their eighties were in their teens and twenties during the 1950s, so Town Square’s ’50s theme uniquely enables us to provide immersive reminiscing experiences. While this isn’t a cure for dementia, studies have shown that these types of activities may reduce its side effects, like anxiety and depression, while improving quality of life. Town Square’s reminiscing activities are inspired by the reminiscence therapy system originally developed by George G. Glenner Alzheimer’s Family Centers.
Importantly, these benefits do not only pertain to dementia care. A stroll down memory lane can improve our emotional well-being at any adult age, especially when memories are shared among families, friends, and peers.
Through this beneficial practice, a day at Town Square can give seniors a sense of value and comfort, while improving happiness and even restfulness while asleep. Our service in this field allows us to make a positive difference in the lives of our community members each and every day.
