Town Square is a senior enrichment center (adult day care) that transports seniors back to another time and place with the look and feel of a 1950s small town. Members can explore multiple unique activity rooms, called storefronts, all designed to spark memories of the past.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Including but not limited to:
- Work closely with the Activity Director to:
- plan, implement, and evaluate Town Square daily programming,
- ensures daily activities and programs, encourage socialization and provide entertainment, enjoyment, and fulfillment to Town Square members, including physical fitness exercises and other recreational activities in the following categories: productive, leisure, self-care & wellness, restorative
- ensure calendar of events and programs are planned quarterly, well-documented, and communicated clearly to all support staff
- plan and create monthly calendars using the Town Square programming guide and coordinate with outside vendors for special programming, such as performances, family days, holiday themes, and special events
- Work closely with the Center Director to ensure programs and staffing meet Town Square goals and adhere to approved budgets
- Actively participate in daily activities and directly engage with Town Square members
- Provide ongoing training and support to care providers of all activities and programs
- Lead morning team huddles and support staff to review daily activities and specific member needs
- Coach and monitor performance of care providers during day-to-day activities
- Manage any center volunteers when present
- Work closely with Center Nurse to:
- record members’ social history,
- assist with members’ related support needs (for example, help coordinate member transportation, potential evaluation for occupational, physical, and speech therapies)
- assures that the identified related support services are included in the members’ plan of care, and
- signs and dates monthly progress notes about social and related support services activities provided/ coordinated.
- Assist with food service and food ordering; maintain any state-specific requirements
- Participate in after-hour events to promote Town Square
- Assist with Town Square tours when necessary

REQUIREMENTS
- Must have graduated from a high school or have a certificate recognized by a state of the United States as the equivalent of a high-school diploma and have:
- (i) a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, and one year of full-time experience working with elderly people or people with disabilities in a human service or medically related program;
- (ii) 60 semester hours from an accredited college or university, and two years of full-time experience working with elderly people or people with disabilities in a human service or medically related program; or
- (iii) completed an activities director’s course, and two years of full-time experience working with elderly people or people with disabilities in a human service or medically related program.
- A degree in therapeutic recreation, gerontology, education, or related field preferred
- Three years direct programming experience with older adults and persons with dementia preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Self-motivated with the ability to self-manage and drive efficient processes
- Successful results of background check, and where applicable, additional state specific regulatory requirements
