Town Square University Parkway serves as a vital community resource, providing caregivers with complimentary assessments to enhance their understanding of a loved one’s physical, cognitive, and emotional health. In addition to weekly support groups, the center hosts monthly educational classes, ensuring caregivers are equipped with valuable knowledge and skills. To further support families, Town Square also offers free respite during these events, allowing caregivers some much-needed respite and peace of mind.
A New Idea in Adult Day Care Services in University Parkway
Town Square is a unique adult day care center. Our groundbreaking approach to adult day services combines essential senior care, immersive activities, and opportunities to reminisce with peers. These activities are designed to meet the needs of those experiencing the normal effects of aging and include activities specifically focused for those living with Alzheimer’s and dementia. This innovative model represents an important step forward for senior care in this country.
Seniors with Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias have been observed to readily recall, and converse about, the times of their youth.
Reminiscence Therapy
Research has shown that people with dementia are best able to hold on to their memories from their formative years – that is to say, their teens and twenties. Since most of the people who are diagnosed with dementia today came of age in the mid 1900s, the design of our center is built to evoke those memories in the most vivid and joyous way possible.
Our members engage in activities that have proven benefits in the quality of life of people with memory conditions, such as reduced anxiety, increased willingness to socialize, and better and greater quantity of sleep at night. First of all, the entire staff provides a caring and personalized care environment for her and the other members. The daily range of services includes a wide variety of enjoyable and stimulating activities, from artwork, games, and entertainment .
In addition to using these activities, we have also chosen the on-site medical and psychiatric care offered by the center's outstanding psychiatric and medical registered nurse practitioners. In addition to offering on-site primary and mental health care, the services include a caregiver support group as well as periodic educational sessions for family members.
Prior to selecting Town Square, we looked at several other facilities. Where those facilities were run-down and unattractive, Town Square is new, immaculate, and welcoming. I have spent over 40 years working in healthcare. I can say with some authority that Town Square is by far, the best place for any family member in need of memory care.
Town Square offers options of days, such as 2-day week, 3-day week or more. Daily times are from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m., giving me ample time for myself or errands. Classes and support groups are offered for families and caregivers free of charge. Physical, occupational, and speech therapy are offered and behavioral and psychiatric services available. Even barber and hair salon services are available. Town Square is one stop shopping until my husband requires full care. I am so very, very thankful for Town Square and its staff. It has given me my life back.
