Explaining our Storefront Activities for Seniors
The term “storefronts” is tied to our goal of providing a fulfilling and engaging experience for seniors with dementia.
At Town Square, we’ve crafted an environment that takes our members on a nostalgic journey back to a mid-century American small town, with 12 distinct spaces that look and feel like real-life locales. Each offers a carefully curated schedule of activities for seniors tailored to the preferences and needs of our members.

Rosie’s Diner
Food transports us to a time, place, or conversation. When members step into our classic diner, they are welcome to savor tasty, nutritious, and dietitian-approved breakfasts, lunches, and snacks, groove to tunes on the jukebox, and share their stories.
Glenner Park
Glenner Park is the heart of our community, with benches inviting members to sit, relax, and engage. Large group activities that bring all of our members together are also regularly held in Glenner Park.
Starlite Theater
Relive the golden age of Hollywood at our cinema, where vintage movies, musicals, and TV shows light up the screen. Members can engage in conversations about the films that shaped their past, reminisce about movie outings, exercise their love for cinema, and learn about the history of American entertainment.
Art Studio
Art allows us to express what words cannot, while learning new skills adds meaning to our day-to-day lives and allows us to challenge ourselves in a safe and supportive environment. Our Art Studio enables all this—with a touch of fun and laughter.
Members unleash their creativity in this vibrant space dedicated to artistic expression. They are invited to paint, draw, and craft memories while exploring new hobbies or revisiting old talents.
Members’ artwork adorns the walls, offering recognition and a sense of achievement.
Health Club
This open space is an invitation to get moving and connect. Members can engage in group exercise classes and events that nurture the body and mind. This space is also used by our community partners, offering crucial care services such as physical, occupational, and speech therapy, all in one convenient location.
Learning Center
Curiosity comes alive in this dynamic space that offers technology, games, puzzles, and reading materials.
Our learning adventures stimulate the mind, fostering conversations, sparking remembrance about past experiences, and encouraging cognitive exercise. All of these benefits work together to keep the mind engaged.
Library
Our Library is home to timeless books and periodicals from our members’ youth. Memories come to life when they sit back and relax with a newspaper, classic book, or vintage magazine.
Members can share literary passions, join our book club, reminisce about favorite reads, exercise their imagination, and find new perspectives in literature.
Recreation Center
At our Recreation Center, members can test their skills in vintage board games, classic card games, billiards, and more. We believe healthy competition can bring a community together! This storefront is also an opportunity to reminisce about game nights with family and friends.
Little Blue House
There’s no place like home. Our Little Blue House offers the warmth and familiarity of a cozy living room from the middle of the 20th century, complete with authentic TV shows, music, and decor.
The Little Blue House is a place to relax. Members often sit on the sofa and tune into an old favorite show or just appreciate a classic record.
Phil’s Newsstand
Members can browse through newspapers and magazines from days gone by or pick up something current and settle on a park bench.
Many of our members have lived through the same historical events, and their shared experiences are an important underpinning for social connection and new friendships.
Dottie’s Garden Shop
At Dottie’s Garden Shop, our indoor slice of nature, members step into a peaceful and colorful haven, perfect for picking up gardening as a new hobby. They can create flower arrangements, tend to plants, and immerse themselves in the serene atmosphere.
Chumley’s Garage
Chumley’s Garage recreates a vintage service station – the kind of place almost everyone stopped at during cross-country road trips during the golden age of the highway system. Members can gather around a real-life vintage car, flip through car magazines, and share automobile tales.
Conversations rev up as car enthusiasts exchange stories about their favorite rides and reminisce about past road trips.
