Personal Care Assistant

REPORTS TO: Center Director and Center Nurse

RESPONSIBILITIES

Included but not limited to:

  • Assist members with personal care needs, including but not limited to assisting with walking, transfers, toileting, dressing, and showers
  • Assist Center Director and Center Nurse with duties as assigned
  • Serve meals and snacks; assist members requiring help with eating; clear tables
  • Prepare members for activities as requested
  • Actively contribute to creating and maintaining a clean, orderly, bright, and welcoming environment
  • Communicate in a positive, courteous, and professional manner with members and their families, coworkers, referral agencies, and the community at large
  • Comply with company policies and procedures and safety and regulatory laws and standards

REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Texas Food Handlers Certificate, a plus
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Preferred prior experience working with seniors and/or adults with special needs
  • Able to work a flexible schedule
  • Able to bend, pull, push, squat, turn, transfer, and lift 50 pounds; able to stand for an extended period while providing physical assistance to members
  • Successful results of background check, and where applicable, additional state specific regulatory requirements
